John Schroer, Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) commissioner, and Gov. Bill Haslam recently released the fiscal year 2019-2021 Comprehensive Multimodal Program, which provides $2.6 billion in funding to 143 individual project phases on 116 projects.

The program identifies the engineering, construction and operation of aviation, bridge, rail, road, transit, and waterway projects.

“This year’s transportation plan provides for much needed infrastructure improvements and maintenance for many areas of our state,” Haslam said. “These investments result in a safe, reliable, and debt-free highway network for our citizens and are critical in our efforts to bring high quality jobs to Tennessee.”

This year’s plan includes the repair or replacement of 10 bridges on the state highway system and 70 bridges on local roads.

Some of the other projects highlighted in the plan include the widening from State Route 109 to I-840 in Wilson County, the reconstruction of the interchange at I-24 and I-75 in Hamilton County, and the widening of Woodson Drive to the Cherokee Trail Interchange of U.S. 129 in Knox County.

Revenue generated through the Improving Manufacturing, Public Roads and Opportunities for a Vibrant Economy Act will be used on infrastructure investments in every county. The act addresses funding for 962 infrastructure projects.
