Port of Indiana-Jeffersonville officials recently named Jeff Miles as port director.
Miles has more than 30 years of experience in senior-level management positions in the maritime transportation, port, and logistics sectors. From 2005 to 2017, he served on the North Carolina State Ports Authority senior executive team and previously as general manager of container operations at the South Carolina State Ports Authority.
He also worked as president of a private marine terminal company, managed intermodal logistics and terminal operations for major ocean carriers and served as a logistics, shipping, and business consultant.
“Jeff’s extensive port operations and leadership experience, coupled with his background in strategic planning, perfectly position our Jeffersonville port for continued growth,” Ports of Indiana CEO Rich Cooper said.
Raised in the Dearborn County towns of Lawrenceburg and Greendale, Miles said it was an honor to have the opportunity to work in his home state.
Miles assumed his new role last week, taking over for Scott Stewart who left at the beginning of the year to pursue other opportunities.
The port is on the Ohio River in the Louisville metro area. It supports 13,000 jobs and handles more 2 million tons of cargo annually. It offers more than 1,000 acres of industrial sites for multimodal businesses.
