Norfolk Southern Corp. recently announced that John Scheib has been named executive vice president of law and administration and chief legal officer.
Scheib will assume the position March 1, replacing William Galanko, who is retiring after 28 years with Norfolk Southern.
The position oversees corporate communications, government relations, human resources, labor relations, and law.
“Bill has made many contributions to the success of our company,” James Squires, Norfolk Southern chairman, president and CEO, said. “His leadership and insight have been invaluable to us throughout his career. John brings years of experience in law and government, both inside and outside NS, and is an ideal fit for his new role. I look forward to working with him for many years to come.”
Scheib has been employed Norfolk Southern since 2005 when he became an attorney in the law department. In 2016, he became vice president of law and last year became senior vice president of law and corporate relations.
Galanko also joined the company as an attorney. He became an officer in the company in 1999 and held several senior executive positions. He became executive vice president of law and administration last year.
Norfolk Southern operates 19,500 route miles in 22 states and the District of Columbia and operates the most extensive intermodal network in the East.
