The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) is asking for public comments on its Statewide Transportation Improvement Program, which details a list of regionally significant construction projects for fiscal years 2018 through 2021.

The program includes federally funded projects planned by public transit providers and tribal governments that are important to the state’s economy. Transportation projects are included for the Lawton Metropolitan Planning Organization, the Tulsa area’s Indian Nations Council of Governments, the Association of Central Oklahoma Governments representing the Oklahoma City area, and the Frontier Metropolitan Planning Organization from Fort Smith, Arkansas.

The public can access the draft of the program plan online or by requesting a printed copy.

Comments will be accepted through Nov. 28 via email or mail. Substantive comments will be included in the final draft that is sent next month to the Federal Transit Administration and the Federal Highway Administration for approval.

ODOT also has an eight-year construction work plan based on projected federal and state transportation funding.

Earlier this month, ODOT approved the county improvement for roads and bridges work plan.

The work fund will receive approximately $926 million in federal, state, local and tribal funds over the next five years.

By 2021 more than 800 miles of county roads and almost 400 county bridges will be improved, rehabilitated or replaced.
