AAAE names former TSA administrator as senior adviser

Peter Neffenger

The American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) recently named Peter Neffenger senior adviser.

Neffenger is the former administrator of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Prior to joining the TSA in 2015, Neffenger served in the United States Coast Guard. He holds several degrees from three universities and from the U.S. Naval War College.

He will assume the role of AAAE senior adviser Nov. 1. In this role, he will be responsible for innovative solutions and technological advances in the airport industry and will provide strategic advice.

Neffenger said he was excited to be working with the AAAE to affect meaningful change and that he appreciates the challenges of working in a dynamic environment.

“Peter Neffenger is a thoughtful, highly effective leader who has successfully driven innovation and organizational transformation throughout his career,” AAAE President and CEO Todd Hauptli said. “He is widely respected, and we are thrilled that he will help us move aviation forward at such a pivotal inflection point in our industry. Peter has a first-rate mind and throughout his career in government demonstrated a unique ability to get things done. It is going to be a lot of fun watching him apply those capabilities on behalf of AAAE and the airport community.”
