The Port of Seattle recently entered into a three-month pilot partnership with the Washington State Food Truck Association (WSFTA) to schedule twice daily, seven-days-a-week service to the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

Located at the airport’s cellphone lot on S. 170th Street off the Airport Expressway between Air Cargo Road and International Boulevard, the cellphone lot was designed to host a number of food trucks without taking away any of the available 180 parking spaces.

“It’s a great way to take a bite out of your wait and enjoy some great food options you might not be aware of,” Port of Seattle Commissioner Stephanie Bowman said. “This is another opportunity to grow local, small business activity at the airport and improve the experience for users of the cellphone lot.”

According to the port, the new food truck rotating schedule will provide opportunity for a wide variety of vendors including local favorites such as the Grilled Cheese Experience, Ezell’s Express II, Boss Mama’s Kitchen, and The People’s Burger.

“Local food trucks offer a unique experience and are most often operated by small business owners passionate about sharing their culinary art with people in their community,” WSFTA Director Lori Johnson said. “Food trucks have really captured the public’s attention, largely due to the quality of their food and to the creativity they bring to their menu.”

Food truck service will run from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. for the morning session and 5 p.m. – 11 p.m. for the evening. A schedule of vendors is currently available at BestFoodTrucks.com

Ranked as the ninth-busiest U.S. airport, the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport served approximately 45.7 million passengers and moved more than 366,000 metric tons of air cargo throughout 2016.
