Honeywell Transportation Systems, a product of industrial software giant Honeywell, is getting into the Connected Vehicle market, and have tapped an automotive software expert to head the effort.
Cristina Segal has been officially appointed as vice president and general manager of the Connected Vehicle team. She comes to the role from Intel, where she led the automotive division and served as the European, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) director of Developer Relations, following their acquisition of the embedded software applications she had co-founded, COMSYS.
“Cristina will leverage Honeywell’s unmatched ability to combine advanced software with great hardware products to provide enormous value to our original equipment manufacturers and aftermarket customers,” Olivier Rabiller, president and CEO of Honeywell Transportation Systems, said. “She will lead the integration of existing Honeywell connectivity solutions and smart investments to advance our software-driven, product development capabilities, and facilities, including the Connected Vehicle team within Honeywell’s new Atlanta Software Center.”
Her team at Honeywell will be responsible for the development and implementation of end-to-end monitoring and management platforms for connected/autonomous vehicles. Cybersecurity will play a big part in that, but the team will also deliver real-time health monitoring, diagnosis and predictive maintenance options to global automakers working with them.
Beyond her work in the corporate world, Segal also holds a doctorate in computer science and artificial intelligence, along with an engineering degree in electronics and telecommunication. She has been a professor with a focus on programming languages, software engineering, and artificial intelligence, and over the years, has published three books and more than 40 research papers in her fields.
