Southwest Airlines recently promoted Ryan Martinez from senior director of the Financial Planning & Analysis Corporate Team to Managing Director Investor Relations, which will go into effect on Sept. 11.
Martinez will be responsible for coordinating with other departments to maintain consistency, transparency and credible communications as well as ensuring securities law compliance in communications between Southwest Airlines and the investment community. He also must incorporate the airline’s financial and marketing messages into all communications.
He replaces Marcy Brand who is moving to another management role in the finance department.
“Ryan has been a tremendous leader in our finance department for more than a decade, and his servant leadership-style has been instrumental in strengthening relationships both internally and externally,” Tammy Romo, Southwest executive vice president and chief financial officer, said. “I’m so incredibly proud of our world-class investor relations team, and we’re fortunate to have a leader of Ryan’s caliber to step into this leadership role.”
Before beginning his tenure at Southwest in 2006, Martinez worked for The Neiman Marcus Group. His first position at Southwest was manager investor relations in the investor relations department.
Martinez is a certified public accountant in Texas and earned a bachelor of science in accounting and finance.
