The Airports Council International – North America (ACI-NA) recently announced that its free mobile passport control app that facilitates passenger travel at airports has surpassed 2 million downloads throughout the iOS and Android app stores.

The Mobile Passport App allows users to submit their passport information and customs declaration form from their mobile devices prior to inspection from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

According to Airlines for America, a projected 16.1 million travelers are expected to fly worldwide over Labor Day holiday from Aug. 30 to Sept. 5, representing a 5 percent increase from last year’s 15.4 million passengers during the same period.

“We are thrilled that Mobile Passport has reached more than 2 million downloads,” ACI-NA President and CEO Kevin Burke said. “This app was designed to facilitate fast and efficient entry into the United States while maintaining the highest safety and security standards. During busy travel times like Labor Day Weekend, airports rely on innovative technology like Mobile Passport to assist in safely and efficiently facilitating passengers while enhancing the travel experience.”

Developed in conjunction with CBP, the app is a first-of-its-kind solution aimed at improving passenger travel facilitation. Since its inception, the app has expanded to 24 airports and one cruise port nationwide. In total, Mobile Passport enrolled approximately 195,000 new members throughout the month of July.
