The Auto Care Association recently formed the Emerging Technologies Committee dedicated to developing design and usage requirements for new automotive technologies.
It also will ensure all technologies reflect international standards and oversee the creation of aftermarket retrofit device standards.
New technologies include connected aftermarket devices, vehicle connectivity, and network interfaces. All work will be done on behalf of the independent auto care industry.
“The Auto Care Association is taking on a more prominent role in not only understanding these new vehicle technologies but also developing solutions that benefit consumers and the independent auto care industry,” Bill Hanvey, president and CEO of the Auto Care Association, said. “We look forward to recruiting the best strategic and technical minds from our membership for this important effort.”
The Telematics and Emerging Technologies Workgroup designed the committee. Formed in 2015, the workgroup debates industry issues.
Applications are being accepted for the standing committee and the committee’s workgroups. External stakeholders and business professionals are eligible to sit on the committee as long as they work for a company in good standing with the Auto Care Association and meet all requirements. Auto Care Association staff members are also eligible.
Committee members will serve one three-year term and will meet annually at the Automotive Aftermarket Product Expo.
