Alaska Airlines recently named Kate Geldaker as the company’s new director of government affairs, which went into effect on Aug. 10.
In her new role, Geldaker will represent the airline before a number of federal policymakers, which includes a specific focus on Capitol Hill.
Prior to her appointment, Geldaker previously worked as deputy director of congressional affairs at the National Telecommunications and Information Administration. Additionally, she served as senior legislative assistant to U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) where she advised on matters related to tourism, aviation, and technology. Geldaker also spent time with former U.S. Sen. Mark Begich (D-AK).
“Kate will serve in a key role for the company in Washington, D.C. She brings extensive Capitol Hill experience, aviation policy knowledge, and a passion for our airline,” Megan Ouellette, managing director of government affairs for Alaska Airlines, said. “We are thrilled to welcome Kate and know she will create an immediate positive impact for the company in D.C.”
Geldaker holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Pacific Lutheran University and a master’s degree in public administration from the Georgia Washington University.
Alaska Airlines, along with regional partners and Virgin America, files a more than 40 million passengers per year to 118 destinations throughout the world.
