The American Trucking Associations (ATA), an organization representing the U.S. trucking industry, recently named its 10th president and CEO, Mark Colson, who will assume the role on Dec. 1.

“For more than 90 years, ATA’s mission has been to give trucking a strong voice in the decisions that shape its future,”  ATA Chairman Greg Hodgen said. “Mark will build on that foundation, bringing fresh energy and a clear vision for advancing our industry’s priorities and delivering even greater value for our members.”

Colson has more than two decades of transportation experience. Since 2019, he has served as Alabama Trucking Association president and CEO, working to advance the industry’s priorities on a state and federal level and emphasize trucking’s role in the economy and supply chain. He previously held leadership roles at the Business Council of Alabama.

Colson’s service within the ATA Federation includes roles on ATA’s Strategic Priorities Committee and Truck PAC board of directors. He also served on the American Transportation Research Institute’s Research Advisory Committee.

He was Trucking Association Executives Council task force chairman. The task force developed an action plan to address regulatory gaps exploited by noncompliant carriers and unqualified drivers that was released in December 2025.
