The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recently awarded airports in 36 states and two territories a combined $481 million in Airport Infrastructure Grants program funding. The grants will support 191 projects.
The program funds airport planning, baggage system upgrades, development, roadway and access improvements, runway and taxiway rehabilitation, terminal improvements, and other safety-related infrastructure needs.
“From our regional hubs to some of America’s busiest airports, we are investing in critical infrastructure that will provide American families with a more seamless, efficient travel experience for years to come,” U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said. “Upgrading our runway infrastructure is part of our work to usher in the Golden Age of Transportation.”
Awardee include:
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport was awarded $100 million for runway, taxiway and terminal reconstruction and runway safety area improvements.
Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport in Kentucky was awarded $32.5 million to reconstruct a terminal.
San Diego International Airport was awarded $30.3 million for terminal construction.
Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport was awarded $14.2 million for taxiway construction and rehabilitation.
El Paso International Airport was awarded $8.7 million to rehabilitate the apron.
General aviation airports in Wisconsin were awarded $2.5 million for terminal reconstruction, runway and taxiway rehabilitation and snow-removal-equipment building reconstruction.
