OmniTRAX, a rail management company, recently deployed a next-generation asset monitoring system on its Panhandle Northern Railroad (PNR).
Athena Industrial Services, an industrial safety company, developed the Advanced Rail Condition Detector and TrueTemp Link. The technology is an autonomous dark territory monitoring system that captures real-time data across freight networks. It detects train presence, broken rails and track temperatures around the clock.
“The Panhandle’s wide-ranging winter and summer temperatures pose serious environment challenges that require 24/7 attention to maintain operational integrity,” Sergio Sabatini, OmniTRAX president and chief operating officer, said. “Athena’s cutting-edge safety technology provides critical rail monitoring in the Texas Panhandle’s extreme temperatures. Athena continuously evaluates rail conditions, adding a vital element of infrastructure safety to keep Texas supply chains moving.”
PNR provides active freight rail service and Class I rail connections in North Texas. It operates along 30 miles of the Texas Panhandle.
“We are proud to help industry leaders like OmniTRAX safeguard their vital infrastructure,” Athena Industrial President Constantine Issakidis said.
OmniTRAX is the largest private, family-owned short line holding company in North America. It operates 35 railroads that serve ports and industrial parks and well as major industrial hubs nationwide.
Athena develops advanced railroad safety technologies that help prevent derailments and improve safety.
