The American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA), nonprofit trade association representing short line and regional railroads and railroad supply companies, appointed Justin Broyles to serve as ASLRRA board of directors chairman. The appointment was made during the ASLRRA Annual Conference and Exhibition in Minneapolis on April 14.
Broyles is R.J. Corman president and CEO and has served on the board of directors since 2020. He succeeds Matt Walsh who has fulfilled his term.
“Matt’s strategic guidance and oversight has been invaluable, and particularly appreciated as he stepped up to fill the role of Chairman sooner than planned,” Chuck Baker, ASLRRA president, said. “Under his leadership our organization has continued to deliver exceptional value to its members, and advanced issues of importance to our members in the legal, regulatory, and legislative areas. We are looking forward to working with Justin Broyles — an experienced, long-standing board member — as he steps into the chairmanship.”
The association’s executive committee also appointed Kristin Bevil to serve as general counsel and chief legal officer. She has been on the board of directors since 2019 and is Pinsly Railroad vice chairwoman.
The 600 short line railroads in the United States operate 47,500 miles of track, approximately 29 percent of the national railroad network, in 49 states.
