The Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) board of directors recently appointed David Leininger to serve as interim president and CEO, effective May 4.

Leininger will oversee day-to-day operations, support ongoing strategic initiatives, and work closely with the board, staff, and regional stakeholders.

“The board is confident that David’s steady leadership, industry expertise, and collaborative approach will ensure continuity of service and maintain the agency’s focus on delivering safe, reliable, and efficient transit for the North Texas region,” Randall Bryant, DART board of directors chairman, said. “His experience will be critical as we continue advancing key priorities, strengthening partnerships with our member cities, and positioning DART for long-term success.”

Leininger has more than four decades of public service. He served as DART’s chief financial officer for nine years, as interim president and CEO from 2020 to 2021 and now returns to the agency.

“I am honored to serve in this role once again and support the dedicated employees of DART,” Leininger said. “Together, we will remain focused on providing dependable transit options, enhancing the customer experience, and advancing the agency’s mission to connect people, places, and opportunities across our region.”

The board is currently conducting a national search for a permanent president and CEO.
