The ACES Mobility Coalition, a public sector-led alliance working to advance shared autonomous mobility, recently named Dr. Joshua Schank as executive director. Schank succeeds ACES’ cofounder Scott Belcher.
The board of directors unanimously appointed Schank after a national search, citing his ability to translate vision into real-world outcomes.
“Joshua brings a rare combination of strategic thinking, deep policy expertise, and hands-on experience delivering transportation initiatives,” Greer Johnson Gillis, ACES Mobility Coalition board of directors president, said. “The board selected him because we are confident in his ability to build consensus, advance policy, and help communities move pilots to permanent, scalable shared autonomous mobility solutions.”
Schank will lead ACES’ strategic direction, policy engagement and member collaboration. The coalition’s focus is on scaling shared autonomous mobility as a core component of public transportation systems nationwide.
Schank has nearly three decades of leadership experience in public transportation, policy, innovation and technology. In addition to serving as ACES’ executive director, he will continue to serve as Mineta Transportation Institute research associate and Institute for Transportation Studies at UCLA senior fellow. He also is an InfraStrategies partner.
Prior to InfraStrategies, Schank was Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority chief innovation officer and Eno Center for Transportation president and CEO.
