The New Jersey Alliance for Action, an organization representing business, labor, government, utility, education, and professional leaders, recently awarded the New Jersey Department of Transportation’s New Jersey Statewide Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) program with the 2025 Excellence in Engineering Award. The award was presented at the alliance’s 12th annual Distinguished Engineering Awards on July 31.
The awards celebrate the efforts of and professionals from engineering projects making a difference statewide.
“The engineering projects we are honoring today are a cut above the rest, truly unique in the impact they’re creating across the state,” Jerry Keenan, alliance president, said at the awards ceremony. “From transportation to utility work, these engineers are pouring into local economies, creating resilient communities and reliable grids, and building a better future for everyone in New Jersey.”
The ATMS program deployed iNET statewide in the spring. iNET uses enhanced traffic management capabilities including automated incident detection and management, decision support system, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) device control, and Transcom/511 data integration to improve mobility and safety on state-maintained routes and interstates. It has transformed how the department uses ITS to efficiently operate and manage the state highway system.
Launched in 1974, the New Jersey Alliance for Action’s goal is to improve New Jersey’s economy through infrastructure investment.
