Freight transportation leader BNSF recently launched expedited rail service from Los Angeles to Houston, adding to the company’s ability to deliver fast, consistent and reliable service over over-the-road service, officials with the company said.
The third-day service spans from BNSF’s Hobart International facility in Los Angeles to its Pearland intermodal facility in Houston and is designed to meet shipping demands for customers requiring enhanced speed and reliability. The new service provides shippers with a competitive edge and allows for optimization of supply chains, especially for those draying freight from Dallas-Fort Worth to Houston.
“Our expedited service from Los Angeles to Houston is a strategic development that not only extends BNSF’s market reach but also connects two major metropolitan areas more effectively,” Jon Gabriel, BNSF group vice president of consumer products, said. “By continuing to create more opportunities to convert over-the-road (OTR) freight to rail, we provide a cost-effective, direct solution to bring freight to the dynamic and growing Houston area.”
The expanded capacity and improved transit times out of the company’s southern California facility and across its busy Southern Transcon route through Clovis will bring more capacity and consistency for current and prospective customers, BNSF officials said. The expedited service went into operation on July 10, officials said.
