Omaha-based Union Pacific Railroad recently announced it has entered into an agreement with Missouri-based Jaguar Transport Holdings LLC, a transportation logistics company, to provide short line rail service in Kansas City’s Central Industrial District.
Under the terms of the agreement, Union Pacific will lease Jaguar Transport approximately 12 acres of land and four miles of track. Jaguar owns a cold and dry storage warehouse adjacent to the property and recently completed a transload facility that began accepting train cars in March.
The agreement allows Jaguar to offer short-haul services via the Kansas City West Bottoms Railroad, its new short line railroad, and allows Union Pacific to focus on long-haul service from the site.
“Our new business partnership with Union Pacific will create operational efficiencies and unique economic opportunities for the region, allowing local businesses in the greater Kansas City area faster and easier access to Union Pacific’s leading rail network,” Tim Enayati, Jaguar Transport Holdings senior vice president of commercial development, said. “We’re thrilled this opportunity is happening in Missouri and Kansas, two states that have been great partners and longtime supporters of the rail industry.”
Union Pacific operates in 23 western states.
Jaguar Transport Holdings offers short line rail, warehousing and transload services.
