The Site Selectors Guild recently recognized several Norfolk Southern-served industrial development properties as REDI Sites.

Norfolk Southern previously had three industrial development sites certified, bringing its total REDI Sites to 12.

“These designations underscore Norfolk Southern’s dedication to making site selection easier for companies that can benefit from integrated rail solutions,” Craig Hudson, Norfolk Southern group vice president of industrial development, said. “Smart site development helps companies grow—and helps communities thrive. That’s the power of rail in the right place.”

REDI Sites is a national standard for assessing site readiness for office and industrial projects. Site selection consultants evaluate locations for factors such as ease of development, ownership, infrastructure capacity, and entitlements. Designations are in one of five categories based on the program criteria: platinum, gold, silver, bronze, and emerging.

The Southern Virginia Megasite at Berry Hill in Danville, Va., was designated gold.

The NEAR Mega Site in Gadsden, Ala., was designated silver.

Five sites in Alabama, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri and North Carolina were designated bronze.

Two sites, one in Alabama and one in Pennsylvania, were designated emerging.

Norfolk Southern Corp. delivers more than 7 million carloads annually and serves a majority of the U.S. population.
