Nearly all manufacturing and supply chain leaders, 96 percent, are concerned about the impact of current trade policies, according to the 2025 State of Manufacturing & Supply Chain Report.
The 10th annual report is based on a survey of 254 senior manufacturing and supply chain leaders that Fictiv, a global manufacturing and supply chain company, conducted. Survey participants are employed at the director level or higher and have roles in supply chain, production manufacturing, engineering, research and development, or digital innovation. Most of the companies are in the clean energy, electric vehicles, medtech, or robotics industries.
“Concerns about tariffs and trade wars are clearly top of mind for manufacturing and supply chain leaders,” Dave Evans, Fictiv co-founder and CEO, said. “We’re seeing a level of global uncertainty and supply chain disruption we haven’t seen since 2020. However, the report also shows that companies are embracing new technologies and strategies to build more resilient and agile supply chains.”
Other key findings include:
The majority of participants, 93 percent, believe trade wars will escalate in 2025.
The majority feel digital manufacturing platforms as essential, but 86 percent said sourcing parts takes time away from new product introduction, and 91 percent face barriers to product innovation.
