Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) and Patriot Rail Co., a short line and regional rail service provider, plan to build a multicommodity transload facility on CPKC’s network in Denton, Texas.

The facility will offer transload services and logistics solutions to customers in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. Construction is scheduled to begin later this year.

The Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area is one of the fastest growing regions in North America, and the facility will serve customers in the consumer appliances, cement, fly ash, lumber, and steel industries, among others.

“We continue to leverage our strategic land holdings and invest in transloads across the network to create additional connections, improve service and provide our customers with more efficient and cost-effective transportation services,” Coby Bullard, CPKC senior vice president, sales & marketing merchandise, energy and business development, said. “Together with Patriot Rail and Patriot’s investment in this new Denton site, we are creating a more sustainable supply chain while meeting the future needs of the marketplace.”

CPKC operates the only single-line rail network connecting North America.

Patriot Rail operates three excursion railroads and 31 short line railroads over 1,200 miles in 24 states. Support services include railcar storage, transloading, and real estate and logistics planning and assistance.
