The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission announced Friday it had selected a team to improve bridges in the Kaysinger Basin Bridge Bundle.
The ESS Team was chosen, officials said, to either replace or receive major rehabilitation work on 20 bridges in seven counties, including Bates, Benton, Cedar, Henry, Hickory, St. Clair, and Vernon.
The MoDOT said the ESS Team is a partnership of engineering and construction firms that will design and construct the project under the direction of MoDOT and the Federal Highway Administration. Team members include Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc., and Bartlett & West, Inc.
The Kaysinger Basin Bridge Bundle includes 14 bridges to be replace and six bridges to be rehabilitated. On average, officials said, the bridges are more than 70 years old. The bridges in theproject are in poor condition, officials said. Located in west central Missouri, the project will bring them up to current standards. Officials said most of the bridges are on two-lane rural routes and connect the communities and citizens of rural west central Missouri to the rest of the state. Of the more than 10,400 bridges in Missouri’s highway system, nearly 804 are rated “poor” by the FHA.
Officials said the $38 million construction project will being in late spring or early summer of 2025 and is expected to be completed by November of 2027.
