Ports of Indiana hires new COO

Ports of Indiana, a statewide port authority operating three ports on the Ohio River and Lake Michigan, recently hired David Parrott as chief operating officer. In his new role, he will oversee port operations and help lead initiatives to launch new container operations, increase cargo shipments, and expand property development.

Parrott is a maritime logistics executive with 30 years of marine industry experience. He served for eight years as Metro Ports vice president of operations for the East Coast, Gulf and Great Lakes. The company is the oldest stevedoring company in the United States. He supervised the company’s facilities and launched its first Great Lakes operation.

Prior to Metro Ports, he worked in the for Georgia-based Liberty Terminals as CEO, helping the company complete the sale of its assets and a financial turnaround. He worked for the company for 14 years in various roles responsible for terminal operations, stevedoring, sales and marketing, and warehouse management.

He also previously served Schneider Logistics international business manager and Wallenius Wilhelmsen Lines Australia and Far East Trades general manager.
