German-based DHL Group, the world’s leading logistics company, and China-based Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. (CATL), an electric battery manufacturer, recently signed a strategic agreement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Under the agreement, CATL will provide DHL’s logistics parks with advanced liquid cooling energy storage systems and energy management platforms. In addition, CATL supported by DHL’s global network of EV Centers of Excellence will pursue innovations in the auto-mobility sector and explore the future of electric vehicles, battery recycling and end-of-life management.
The partnership aligns with DHL’s sustainability goal of achieving net zero-emission logistics by 2050. The company selected CATL’s preferred logistics service provider to facilitate the deployment of integrated logistics solutions.
“By combining DHL’s extensive logistics and operational expertise, and CATL’s innovative green technology, we are joining forces to deliver the trailblazing sustainable logistics solution to the industry,” Libin Tan, CATL co-president of sales and marketing, said. “Our strengthened cooperation with DHL will not only contribute to achieving both parties’ sustainability targets, but also facilitate the world towards to a greener future.”
“This solution really highlights the great partnership and innovative spirit between our teams,” Oscar de Bok, CEO of DHL Supply Chain, said.
The U.S. office for DHL is located in Westerville, Ohio, while CATL’s U.S. office is in Detroit.
