As a way to grow the aviation workforce, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is providing grants to create a more diverse pool of pilots and aviation maintenance technicians.
The two fund programs will provide grants of up to $1 million for organizations that educated aviation industry professionals.
The Aircraft Pilots Workforce Development Grants will fund programs that educate those looking for careers as aircraft pilots or unmanned aircraft systems operators, while the Aviation Maintenance Technical Workers Workforce Development Grants will fund programs that help people to become aviation maintenance technicians.
Officials said last year, the FAA awarded more than $13.5 million in grants to 30+ schools and organizations.
Applications can be made through grants.gov until Feb. 5, 2025. More information about the grants, their eligibility requirements, their deadlines, the evaluation criteria used in awarding the grants and the grant application procedures are available on the FAA’s Notice of Funding Opportunity on its website. The FAA also posts answers to Frequently Asked Questions about the grants on its website as well.
