Pittsburgh Regional Transit will be hosting a meeting on Nov. 14 to discuss an update on the first draft of its comprehensive bus network redesign.
The first draft redesigns the bus network to attract new riders, expand connections, enhance service quality and reliability, and better meet the needs of communities with high transit demand. It introduces microtransit, smaller, union-operated vehicles that would serve communities that are challenging to reach.
The plan reallocates resources from areas where ridership has decreased.
The agency release the draft on Sept. 30 and has received more than 4,000 comments online.
The Nov. 4 meeting will take place at the August Wilson African American Cultural Center on Liberty Avenue in Pittsburgh from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. No registration is required, and light refreshments will be served.
The agency seeks community feedback and invites the public to attend. Planners will use the public input through feedback to revise the draft and present a revised proposal in spring 2025.
Phased implementation is expected to begin in 2026.
In-person and online events will be held throughout the county until the end of January 2025. The agency previously held 40 events across Allegheny County, engaging more than 1,000 residents.
