On Thursday, on-demand packaging company Packsize announced it had opened a new Innovation Center in Louisville, Ky.
Officials for the company said its new 240,000 square foot facility will expand its manufacturing capabilities while providing redundancies and logistics benefits to its customers. The company said it would co-locate research and development at the new plant, as well as implement production resources, bringing manufacturing closer to Packsize’s North American customer base. The Louisville Innovation Center is expected to have an estimated 200 employees with plans for expansion in the future.
“Our newest facility in Louisville represents both our investment in the future of Packsize and our steadfast dedication to the best possible service for our customers,” Packsize CEO David Lockwood said. “As we look to the years ahead, Packsize is laser-focused on expanding our operations while creating an ecosystem that supports the growth of our business, development of our team and our dedication to a more sustainable future.”
The company said it will use the new center to showcase its technology to companies from all over the world. The Louisville facility will also provide local job creation in areas like quality, production, engineering and research and development, the company said. The localized assembly and refurbishment operations will help the company realize its goal of reducing global CO2 emissions by reducing shipping from Europe.
“Louisville is an ideal choice for us to further develop our North American infrastructure to better serve our growing customer base,” Kellen Frey, Packsize COO said. “Not only does the co-location of production and R&D resources allow us to accelerate our innovation and maintain quality in our solutions, it also powers our efforts to build an incredible team that is aligned with our mission and values.”
