The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) recently awarded funding for five locations during Round 1 of Georgia National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) deployment.
Under the Public-Private-Partnership agreements, the developers will design, install, finance, operate, and maintain electric vehicle charging stations equipped with Direct Current Fast Charging (DCFC) ports for a minimum of five years.
“The Georgia NEVI Deployment Program outlines the state’s approach to using our federal funding to address EV infrastructure gaps in our state’s Alternative Fuel Corridors,” Andrew Heath, Georgia DOT deputy chief engineer, said. “In order for us to be successful, we are turning to the private sector to deliver this innovative infrastructure at strategic locations across our state through Public-Private Partnerships.”
Awardees are: EnviroSpark Networks for the Tifton location, Francis Energy Charging for the Fort Valley location, Silver Comet Energy for the Dublin location, EnviroSpark Networks for the Metter location, and Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores for the Brunswick location.
The Federal Highway Administration approved the Georgia NEVI Deployment Plan last year. The plan was developed in consultation and coordination with various 57 stakeholders.
Georgia will receive approximately $135 million in federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding for NEVI deployment.
The state only has 14 stations meeting federal requirements.
