The American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) is holding an online survey through Feb. 2 to identify what women and men truck drivers believe are barriers for entry into the industry for women truck drivers.

The survey asks driver perspectives’ on why they considered a career as a truck driver, the challenges they encounter as a truck driver, and their experiences obtaining a CDL. If drivers have left the industry, it inquires why.

It also will asks about the challenges truck drivers encounter while training, on the road, and at parking facilities.

“Once again ATRI is providing truck drivers the opportunity to provide input on critical research that will ultimately make our workplace better,” Rhonda Hartman, a truck driver for Old Dominion Freight Line and an America’s Road Team Captain, said. “I strongly encourage my fellow drivers to take a few minutes to complete ATRI’s survey and make our collective voice heard.”

Results will be used to identify and contrast the unique challenges faced by women drivers.

The ATRI’s Research Advisory Committee identified the research a top priority to address safety concerns for women drivers, work force shortages, and identify steps the industry can take to increase the percentage of women drivers.
