The Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM) announced in December it had launched a Supply Chain Resilience Certificate program for supply chain professionals.
The certificate will provide knowledge of the concepts, practices and trends related to organizational and strategic supply chain resiliency for experienced supply chain professionals, the organization said.
“Resilience is like the superhero cape for supply chain professionals. It gives them the power to help their supply chains bounce back from disruptions, whether it’s a global pandemic, natural disaster or unexpected shift in demand,” ASCM CEO Abe Eshkenazi said. “In a world where supply chain disruptions have become more frequent and unpredictable, the need for resilient supply chains is paramount.”
The ASCM Resilience Certificate will allow supply chain leaders to adapt and find solutions while maintaining a robust and efficient supply chain, even when challenged, officials said. Once professionals have completed the courseware and passed the final exam, they should be able to integrate resilience into supply chain management, manage risk in supply chains, make data-driven decisions, strengthen supplier collaboration and relationships, and prepare for potential disruptions.
Officials at ASCM said they started looking into resilience in 2020. The white paper, Supply Chain Resilience for an era of Turbulence, from the Economic Intelligence Unit, found that more focus in needed on how companies and industries can build resilience into their supply chains.
