Wyoming Transportation Commission awards $36M for construction projects

On Tuesday, the Wyoming Transportation Commission announced it had awarded nearly $36.4 million in contracts for 11 construction projects for the Wyoming Department of Transportation.

The commission awarded the contracts during its regular business meeting on Dec. 21. Almost all of the contracts went to the lowest bidder, the commission said. All but one of the projects are primarily funded using federal dollars.

One project, a $3.9 million contract awarded to McGarvin-Moberly Construction, is funded primarily using state dollars and will rehabilitate nearly 7 miles of Wyoming Highway 28 between Lander and Farson in Fremont County. The project includes, milling, asphalt paving, chip seal, traffic control and other work, officials said.

Included in the other contracts was a $4.8 million contract for McGarvin-Moberly to do asphalt paving, chip seal, traffic control and other work on another nearly 7 miles of US Highway 191 between Farson and Pinedale in Sweetwater County. The commission also awarded $3.8 million to Mountain Construction Company for work on US Highway 16.20.789; $3.1 million to Simon Contractors for work on 2.7 miles of Wyoming Highway 212/College Drive in Cheyenne; and $4.6 million for Reiman Corp. for construction on projects in Converse, Goshen, Johnson and Platte Counties.

Other projects included work on roads and bridges in Albany and Carbon counties; paving and surface work on nearly 10 miles of Wyoming Highway 91 in Converse County; paving and fencing on 6 miles of US Highway 85 in Goshen County; sealing and traffic control in Campbell, Crook and Weston counties, and road work in Lincoln and Sublette counties, and on Wyoming Highway 50 in Campbell County.

The various construction projects are scheduled to be completed between August 2024 and June 2025.
