Axcelis Technologies, Inc., a supplier of ion implantation solutions for the semiconductor industry, announced Monday that it would hold a grand opening for its new Axcelis Logistics Center in Beverly, Mass.
The state-of-of-the-art facility is designed to optimize the company’s logistics and warehouse operations, as well as provide flexible capacity for the company’s manufacturing operations. At 101,800 square feet the facility is designed from the ground up for efficiencies and improved material handling and flow like AI-driven autonomous mobile robots and other innovations.
To celebrate the announcement, officials held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday.
“Our investment in this new facility will allow us to support the company’s expanding global customer base,” Russell Low, Axcelis president and CEO, said. “We will continue to invest in our employees and infrastructure to ensure we have the necessary skills and capacity required to achieve our $1.3B financial model. We are also excited to provide significant employment opportunities across a wide variety of functions here in Beverly and across the globe. We look forward to continuing to play a vibrant role in our local communities and supply chain.”
The new center is designed to be energy efficient and employee friendly featuring EV charging stations, utilizing US EPA Energy Star rated heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment and LED lighting with advanced motion sensors.
Officials said the company plans to seek a 25 percent tax credit under the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022 relating to its capital investment. The CHIPS and Science Act aims to strengthen U.S. chip manufacturing to make American semiconductor supply chains more resilient and to support national security.
