The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) recently awarded 16 transportation construction projects statewide more than $12 million in Cost Share Program funds.
The awards leverage $7.2 million in community matching funds.
“It was very much evident during KDOT’s recent Local Consult listening tour how much the Cost Share program is appreciated across the state,” Transportation Secretary Calvin Reed said. “Kansans acknowledge how much Cost Share has resulted in much-needed and impactful community based improvement projects.”
This is the ninth round of Cost Share Program funding. Projects receiving funding include bridge repairs, county road improvements, and safety improvements for roadways and walkways.
The program was able to extend its reach and fund extra bike/pedestrian projects thanks for financial assistance from KDOT’s Kansas Active Transportation Enhancement.
Award recipients are the cities of Abilene, Baldwin City, Deerfield, Halstead, Harper, Haysville, Hillsboro, Jennings, Parsons, Salina and Syracuse, and the counties of Atchison, Brown, Clark and Comanche, Pottawatomie and Russell.
Since its founding in 2019, the Cost Share Program has awarded nearly $140 million to 165 projects with an additional $100 million in matching local funds contributed.
Gov. Laura Kelly’s administration created the Cost Share Program as part of the Eisenhower Legacy Transportation Program.
