Connecticut-based Unicorr Packaging Group announced Thursday it had acquired TriState Container Corporation.
The acquisition will help Unicorr expand its product offerings and geographic footprint while enhancing its manufacturing capabilities.
For more than seven decades, TriState has provided corrugated packaging products and services to customers in the Northeastern U.S., the companies said. With Three facilities in the Philadelphia area, TriState is capable of manufacturing corrugated packaging of any size. Additionally, it’s newly installed single-pass digital press allows the company to customize solutions for customers. The acquisition will expand Unicorr’s manufacturing footprints while increasing its capabilities and flexibility, company officials said.
“This acquisition strategically marks the next phase of growth for both Unicorr and TriState, and combining capabilities, services, and expertise across all locations will offer significant benefit to our customers,” Unicorr CEO Hap Perkins said. “The geographic expansion and strong cultural fit along with the potential for cross-selling opportunities makes the combined company well-positioned for growth.”
Unicorr is a multi-generation, family-owned business, like TriState. The company said TriState and its ProCorr brands will remain and the company will operate as a subsidiary of Unicorr.
“My grandfather founded this company over 70 years ago and through the years the most important thing at TriState has always been the customer,” Allen Friedman, president of TriState, said. “Unicorr’s complementary capabilities and geography make them an obvious choice from a business perspective, but greater than that is their legacy as a family-owned business and their recognition in the market for serving their customers.”
Friedman will remain with the Company as the vice president of TriState Container and Hap Perkin’s son Jim Perkins will join the TriState management team.
