Sugar Land, Texas-based Accredo Packaging, a member of the API Group (API), announced recently it had named Treijon (Trei) Johnson as its Director of Sustainability.
The only flexible packaging manufacturing facility in North American that is LEED Silver certified and 100 percent wind powered, Accredo said Johnson will focus on refining and implementing the company’s sustainability successes, while driving sustainability efforts for the API company Advanced Polybag.
“I’m confident Trei will be instrumental in delivering unmatched value to the communities in which we operate, supply chain partners, and, importantly, our customers while advancing towards aggressive sustainability targets. We believe his fresh perspectives and proven expertise will be critical in expanding and maintaining our foundational culture of sustainability,” Jonathan Quinn, Vice President of Marketing and Sustainability for the API Group said.
Before joining Accredo, Johnson was in packaging engineering at Mars Wrigley, and in supply chain analysis at Unilever Global. In those roles, the company said, Johnson played a crucial part in moving the brands toward sustainability objectives. An alumnus of Cornell University, Johnson graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Sustainability and is a distinguished participant in the 2018 Yale School of Management’s Emerging Leaders Program.
Accredo Packaging offers sustainable packaging for products from snack foods to pet treats, including overwraps for paper towels, shrink bundle film for bottled water and recyclable and compostable stand-up pouches. The company introduced the first reverse printed and laminated all-recyclable pouch and the first ASTM-certified compostable stand-up pouch.
