Amtrak recently used a contract option with Siemens to order 10 additional Amtrak Airo trainsets, bringing the total ordered to 83.

Amtrak is using a portion of its Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act funding to purchase the trains.
Features include café cars, increased space in business class, touchless restrooms, enhanced accessibility for travelers with disabilities, ample storage space for baggage, enhanced lighting, 5G WI-FI and digital information systems, and spacious seating.
Seats have enhanced leg room, adjustable headrests, individual arm rests and contoured seat cushions for ergonomics. Each seat features USB-C ports, power, and tablet and phone holders.
The trains are currently in production in California with the first one scheduled for delivery in 2026. The trains will operate nationwide on the Adirondack, Carolinian, Cascades, Downeaster, Empire Service, Ethan Allen Express, Keystone Service, Maple Leaf, New Haven/Springfield Service, Northeast Regional, Palmetto, Pennsylvanian, Vermonter, and Virginia Services routes.
