SDI, a digital supply chain solutions leader, announced Monday it had launched its Supply Chain Cooperative – a solution it said would tame the complexity and fragmentation of plant and facility maintenance supply chains.
Unlike traditional Group Purchasing Organizations (GPO), the Supply Chain Cooperative leverages SDI’s 50+ years of specialized maintenance, repair and operations experience and taps into the company’s market, category and supplier intelligence, while using SDI’s analytics and negotiation expertise, the company said.
“The Supply Chain Cooperative represents an evolution in MRO supply chain management,” Alina Aronova, SDI’s Chief Transformation Officer, said. “We’re leveraging our profound expertise and unique infrastructure to deliver immediate and ongoing value in an area of spend that’s often overlooked, effectively shifting the leverage from suppliers to buyers.”
The company said the cooperative will start its operations with Janitorial/Sanitation supplies, PPE, General Industrial supplies and lab supplies before incorporating other categories. New categories will be added based on market dynamics and member interest, the company said. Future category sourcing events will provide organizations to join when they stand to benefit the most, the company said.
“This is a strategic foundation for excellence in MRO supply chain management,” Aronova said. “Our members will immediately benefit from our advantaged programs, experiencing significant, ongoing value as our leverage amplifies with growing membership.”
