FedEx Corp. recently launched its new tool, FedEx Sustainability Insights, in the United States.
The cloud-based tool uses near-real time FedEx network data to estimate greenhouse gas emissions for tracking numbers and FedEx.com accounts. Data is displayed for a variety of metrics such as service type, mode of transport, and country or territory.
It is available for eligible FedEx Express, FedEx Ground, and FedEx Freight shipments.
“We’ve heard from our shippers that they need more data on their shipping footprint as consumers increasingly weigh sustainability as a factor in purchasing decisions.” said Brie Carere, executive vice president and chief customer officer. “Through innovations like FedEx Sustainability Insights, FedEx is empowering customers to access the information they need as part of our mutual pursuit of a more sustainable future.”
FedEx Sustainability Insights will be the first of a new suite of tools for e-commerce customers. Customers will have the ability to transfer their historical and predictive emissions data to their own internal systems through an application programming interface powered by machine learning. This will help customers integrate emissions estimates into their shopping carts, boost operational compliance, and manage their supply chain.
FedEx Corp. has set the goal of global carbon neutral operations worldwide by 2040.
