The state of New York recently provided $100 million in state funding to support repaving projects at 64 locations that have been impacted by extreme weather.
“Weather these days is more intense more often, necessitating the need for vital and timely maintenance of our infrastructure,” Marie Therese Dominguez, New York State Department of Transportation commissioner, said. “In response, Gov. (Kathy) Hochul has prioritized funding to renew our infrastructure, investing in restoring hundreds of miles of roads to better withstand mother nature’s challenges.”
The department’s current five-year capital plan provides record funding for road and bridge repair and modernization.
This round of funding will help restore nearly 520 lane miles of pavement. The largest projects include:
- The Northern State Parkway from Meadowbrook State Parkway to Wantagh State Parkway in the Town of North Hempstead and the Village of Westbury in Nassau County, $9 million.
- Various state highways in Cayuga, Cortland, Onondaga, Oswego, Seneca, and Tompkins counties, $5.3 million.
- Route 35/202 from the Taconic State Parkway interchange to Route 118 in the Town of Yorktown in Westchester County, $5.2 million.
- Route 20 and Old Route 20 from their Route 22 intersections to the Massachusetts State Line in the Town of New Lebanon in Columbia County, $3.6 million.
