Forward Air Corporation announced Monday it would be expanding its less-than-truckload network via expedited LTL service within a new terminal in Bolingbrook, Ill., near Midway International Airport.

The new facility will be Forward’s third LTL location in Chicagoland, the company said, an area where it has experienced strong growth. Additionally, the Bolingbrook operation is expected to increase the company’s same-day delivery capabilities throughout the area, providing an estimated 4.4 million people with same-day or next-day delivery.

“We continue to make investments that help our customers win more business,” Tom Schmitt, chairman, president, and CEO, said. “Our Bolingbrook facility is another example of how we do it. The combination of speed and the lowest damage rates in the industry is a differentiator for companies looking to grow.”

Forward Air is a leader in transportation services across the country, as well as in Canada and Mexico. The company provides less-than-truckload services using a comprehensive national network of terminals, including local pick-up and delivery, shipment consolidation/deconsolidation, warehousing, and customs brokerage. The company also offers final mile services, and intermodal, first- and last-mile, high-value drayage services, and container freight station warehouse and handling services.

Headquartered in Greeneville, Tenn., the 40-year-old company handles over 55 million in weekly tonnage at more than 200 locations covering nearly 6 million square feet of warehouse space.
