The New York-based Greenabl Shippers Association recently launched. The association is the logistics industry’s first not-for-profit cooperative procurement group committed to decarbonization.
It will help shippers address the impact of carbon dioxide in their supply chains by using technology and a proven measurement framework to advance decarbonization efforts.
The association will use a neutral cooperative procurement approach combined with a technology platform to enable shippers and carriers to measure, mitigate and offset their greenhouse gas emissions.
Companies seeking to join the organization have two membership options.
“Everyone has a part to play,” Bluspark President and CEO Ken O’Brien said. “Decarbonizing the transportation industry is a complex and challenging task. However, we think that with the right combination of technologies, policies, and operational changes, it is possible to reduce the industry’s carbon output and transition to a more sustainable future.”
Bluspark will manage the Greenabl Shippers Association. The company has a history in ocean freight and procurement and providing support for importers and exporters.
The company believes a green-focused supply chain coalition like Greenabl is part of the path to global supply chain decarbonization. The path requires commitment, cooperation, and action from multiple stakeholders, the company said.
Bluspark manages and provides technology support for the Gemini Shippers Association.
