The projects provide more transportation options in communities outside the Chicago area and promote an enhanced quality of life.
The St. Clair County Transit District received $10.8 million for the electrification of transit vehicles and charging stations.
The Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District received $7.2 million for hybrid bus replacement.
The Rock Island County Metropolitan Mass Transit District received $6 million for six zero-emission buses.

“These awards to our transit systems will strengthen our status as a national leader in providing cost-effective public transportation that’s safe and accessible to everyone in our state,” Illinois Transportation Secretary Omer Osman said.
This is the third round of funding, bringing the total investment in downstate transit to $337.8 million. The first two rounds funded projects in Champaign-Urbana, downtown Bloomington and other areas.
Rebuild Illinois will invest $33.2 billion over six years into the state’s transportation system.
