The Pennsylvania State Transportation Commission recently awarded 24 rail freight improvement projects, $26 million in Rail Transportation Assistance Program, and the Rail Freight Assistance Program grants.
“These investments in Pennsylvania’s rail system create jobs, support efficient freight travel, and help keep the business community connected to the global economy,” Gov. Tom Wolf said.
Pennsylvania has more operating railroads than any other state at 65.
Country View Family Farms in Union County received $3 million to construct a 110-car capacity loop track providing new rail service to a feed mill and unloading equipment.
RJ Corman Railroad in Cambria, Clearfield, and Clinton counties received $3 million to rehabilitate approximately 24 miles of track.
The Buffalo & Pittsburgh Railroad in Clearfield, Elk, Jefferson, and McKean counties received $2.6 million to rehabilitate approximately 20 miles of track.
Pine Creek Seed Holdings in Clinton County received $1.9 million to construct an approximately 1,000-foot siding to provide new rail access.
Allegheny Valley Railroad in Allegheny County received $1.6 million to construct a new track to an engine house and rehabilitate tracks in Glenwood Yard.
Western New York & Pennsylvania Railroad in Cameron County received $1.4 million to rehabilitate approximately 23 miles of track.
