The California Transportation Commission (CTC) recently allocated nearly $3 billion for transportation infrastructure projects statewide.
“This allocation – which includes a significant federal investment – allows Caltrans and our local partners to continue building the equitable, sustainable, and safe transportation system on which future generations will depend,” Tony Tavares, California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Director, said.
The allocation includes more than $123 million in funding from the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017 and more than $452 million in funding from the federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021. The Road Repair and Accountability Act provides $5 billion in transportation funding annually to state and local agencies.
Projects receiving funding in this allocation include:
- A total of $84.9 million to improve safety on I-80 from the Alameda County line to 0.6 miles west of the Solano County line.
- A total of $63.9 million to rehabilitate pavement and upgrade facilities to Americans with Disability Act standards on SR-4 in Contra Costa County.
The CTC also allocated more than $2.1 billion to Caltrans’ Division of Local Assistance. The funds are used by 600 cities, counties, and regional agencies to build and improve roads, bridges, tunnels, and other transportation infrastructure and for projects that enhance safety and protect the environment.
