The International Road Federation’s (IRF Global) Executive Committee recently elected Dr. William Sowell as its next chairman.
He was elected to a two-year term.
Sowell has designed, developed, or sold Intelligent Transportation Systems and solutions in 185 countries. He has worked as an adjunct professor at LA City Junior College, the University of Southern California, the University of Oklahoma, Florida State University, and Al-Ghaurir University in the United Arab Emirates. He earned MBA and Ph.D. degrees in Business Management and International Business and Marketing.
“Under my chairmanship, IRF Global will continue providing access to the finest and largest portfolio of knowledge-based resources, training programs, and technical committees, allowing transportation professionals everywhere, at whatever stage of their career, to acquire the essential technical and leadership skills needed to succeed,” Sowell said.
Based in Washington, D.C., IRF Global is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1948 that serves a network of public, academic, and private sector members with the goal of offering a global marketplace for best practices and industry solutions. Active across more than 70 countries, it provides advocacy services, continuing education programs, and knowledge resources.
The organization began with the roadway construction and surfacing sectors but now includes multiple other sectors.
