The neighborhood of East Buffalo, N.Y., recently announced plans for more than $95 million in city, state, and federal infrastructure investments over the next four years.
The city will invest $25.65 million on a 3.25-mile stretch of Jefferson Avenue from Main Street to Swan Street. Work will include street rehabilitation, lighting, sidewalks, and other pedestrian-friendly features.
A total of $25 million will be invested in a 2.5-mile stretch of Middle Main Street from Goodell Street to Kensington Avenue. Work includes a new road design, push-button countdown timers, and bump-outs. The project builds on the Cars Sharing Main Street project in Downtown Buffalo.
The city will use $15 million to reconstruct Bailey Avenue in two phases, from Winspear Avenue to East Delavan Avenue. The project will better define the roadway, support multi-modal transportation, and include Buffalo Sewer Authority green infrastructure design features.
A total of $4 million will be invested along Michigan Street from South Division to Genesee Street. Work includes the replacement of necessary sidewalks and curbs, new asphalt pavement, new signs and pavement markings, new traffic signals, accessible pedestrian infrastructure, a LED street lighting system, and various streetscape amenities.
Many of the 11 projects are in the planning and design phases.
