Southern Champion Tray (SCT) announced this week it would purchase assets belonging to La Mirada, California-based Evergreen Packaging.
SCT, a leading manufacturer of paperboard packaging for the food service industry, said the move would strengthen its ability to serve West Coast customers, as well as provide customers with a portfolio of fiber-based products and innovative packaging solutions.

Similarly, the SCT team sees this as another opportunity to demonstrate that serving is a privilege.”
In 2020, SCT purchased Honeymoon Paper Products, Inc., to further its position as a leading manufacturer of paperboard packaging.
In addition to purchasing Evergreen’s assets, the company is in the final stages of constructing a 320,000-square-foot highly automated manufacturing facility in Chattanooga, Tennessee, expanding the company’s presence there. The expansion will see the need to hire another 156 employees, the company said.
SCT has been manufacturing food service paperboard and corrugated packaging since 1927, and provides products to the bakery, food service, frozen goods, supermarket, institutional, medical, pharmaceutical, personal care, cosmetic, retail, and electronics markets, as well as many others. The company also has facilities in Fairfield, Ohio, and Mansfield, Texas.
