The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is accepting applications through Sept. 30 for the Governor’s Transportation Cost-Share Program.
The program provides financial assistance to public and private groups for public road and bridge projects. It matches up to 50 percent of the construction contract costs for selected projects. The goal is to build partnerships with local entities to deliver road and bridge projects.
Projects will be selected based on economic impact, transportation need, the applicant’s share of total project costs, and project readiness.
Twenty percent of the funding will be set aside for projects that demonstrate economic development. Of that 20 percent, the program may contribute up to 100 percent of the construction contract costs.
MoDOT and the Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED) will work with project sponsors to determine when projects may generate economic development.
MoDOT’s Cost-Share Committee comprises MoDOT’s chief engineer, chief financial officer, assistant chief engineer, two director-appointed employees, and DED staff. The committee will select projects with the greatest economic benefit and present them to the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission for approval.
Guidelines, application, and a rating matrix are available on MoDOT’s website.
During the last legislative session, the Missouri General Assembly appropriated $75 million for the program.
